What to be guided by when choosing a studio for logo design

The results of typing “logo designer” in the search engine resemble a minefield, and after a quick look at the offers of the first companies, your head is teeming with questions.

  • Will they understand the idea?
  • Will they rise to the challenge?
  • Will I be able to rely on them?

1. Know what you want

Seems obvious? Believe me, it's not. A huge number of aspiring entrepreneurs start a project without realizing what logo (and all visual identity) is relevant to the business.

It should reflect the character, goals and priorities of the brand. And although it does not have to be complicated, it is still something much more than just good looks and nice colors. If you want to go deeper into the topic of branding, I invite you to the article”The product is not everything. Why do you need branding?”

2. Think about what kind of cooperation you expect

  • Do you need a one-time project or do you hope to cooperate in the future?

If you already know that you will need regular graphic projects, it is better to bet on long-term cooperation with the same designer. It is worth spending more time with each other from the beginning to outline a broader direction and expectations for the future. However, if it does not matter to you and you are aiming for one quick project, you do not need to attach so much importance to it.

  • Do you care about meeting in person or are online conversations enough?

Many broad-based design companies do their business exclusively online. If you feel comfortable working from a computer, it does not matter whether you choose a company from the other side of Poland or the world.

However, if you want to meet in person and discuss the project with the other person face to face, and not just with a webcam, a studio located closer to your company will be a better choice.

3. Estimate the budget

Although the budget is not unlimited, do not skimp on visual identification. The quality of your design reflects the quality of your business — as they see you, they will pay you that much. And companies with a strong identity earn up to 25% more than competitors (more on this in the article”A strong image drives success”).

It was a shame to give up such earning potential at the beginning, wasn't it? Check out the price list. Although not always, the price often has an impact on the quality of work and experience. And your company can't afford a weak logo.

4. Take a look at the portfolio and reviews

The easiest way to assess the skills of a studio is based on a portfolio. However, an equally important indicator of the quality of work is the opinions and testimonials of customers with whom they have already worked. Maybe it's worth taking a closer look at them?

Nothing prevents you from contacting them personally and asking — what do they think about a particular design studio? What was their experience? Will they recommend them to work on your project? A design studio with many satisfied clients is one you can trust.

Sometimes, despite the detailed selection, there are still several companies to choose from ready to take care of your project right away. If each portfolio suits your needs, the prices are reasonable and the customer reviews are positive — choose the studio with which your heart beats faster. Intuition is an amazing tool!
